Avowed anarchist and mixed-martial artist Jeff Monson seems like a character out of a Chuck Palahniuk novel. But the bald, heavily-tattooed heavweight grappling specialist is not quite as scary as you might think, that is, if you're on the other end of a phone several hundred miles away. The soft-spoken Monson is a true believer but prefers to talk philosophy, not with his fists, outside of the Octagon.
Although coming off a defeat to the hard-hitting Pedro Rizzo, Monson seems like one of the few fighters who can command high-profile fights outside of the UFC Octagon. For Monson, who's not fought in the UFC since his 5-round defeat at the hands of former UFC champ Tim Sylvia, a return to the Octagon is certainly not out of the question, although it might be at least a year before that happens.
